I see recent conflicts with North Korea a good thing for Malaysia as a nation.
The reason being this:
Look at all the nations that thrive and shine, there's almost always one thing in common: they have some forms of military threats that breed insecurity among themselves so the people have to excel for the state to survive.
Taiwan has China as a rival state that poses economic and political threat so they have no choice but to shine economically.
South Korea has North Korea to breed insecurity among South Koreans so they have to shine.
Japan has given up rights to war after surrendering WW2 and relied on US for its defense and the state is vulnerable to China militarily, so they have to shine.
Same to Germany who had given up rights to war after WW2, they have to shine to be mattered in NATO.
Israel has the rest of the middle east as threat to their state's mere existence so they have to choice but to shine for the state to survive.
US and the rest of The West had threats from communists and now from terrorists for the people to feel insecure.
Singapore has Malaysia as a "frienemy" which it divorced from.
Malaysia is far too comfortable for being at peace with every nations that we don't really have real threat for our people to feel insecurity from. The only self-declared "enemy" we have is Israel which doesn't really give a fuck about who we are after Israel voted Malaysia into existence in UN in 1957.
We need some form of threats for our people to feel insecure from that we will unite and excel to secure ourselves from these threats. North Korea would be the best candidate to take on this role as we have the least to lose economically.
For these reasons, I think the recent conflicts with North Korea a good thing to Malaysia as a nation.
